Pain, stiffness, clicking, or swelling in the hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder — don't ignore it. Early assessment prevents a minor issue from becoming a complex one.
Numbness or weakness in hand or arm
Tingling, numbness, or weakness may signal nerve compression or injury — carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, or brachial plexus. These need specialist evaluation promptly.

Common questions
01 What is a TFCC injury and does it always need surgery?
The TFCC (Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex) is the main stabilising structure on the ulnar (little-finger) side of the wrist. A tear causes persistent wrist pain, especially with rotation. Not all tears require surgery — many acute, smaller tears heal with rest, splinting, and physiotherapy. Chronic or complete tears that don't respond to conservative treatment are repaired arthroscopically, with good outcomes.
02 Can brachial plexus injuries recover on their own?
It depends on the severity. Minor stretch injuries (neuropraxia) often recover spontaneously within weeks to months. Partial ruptures may recover partially. Complete ruptures and avulsions (where the nerve root is torn from the spinal cord) will not recover without surgery. Timing is critical — nerve reconstruction done within 3–6 months of injury gives significantly better outcomes than delayed surgery.
03 How quickly should I reach hospital after a crush or amputation injury?
As fast as possible — these are time-critical emergencies. For replantation (reattaching a severed finger or hand), the window is ideally within 6 hours of injury for warm ischaemia, and up to 12–24 hours if the part is kept cool. Wrap the severed part in a moist cloth, place it in a sealed plastic bag, and keep that bag in ice water. Do not place the part directly on ice. Head to the nearest emergency immediately.
